Ride the beautiful roads of Orihuela Costa and Murcia
We are based near Pilar de la Horadada on the Orihuela Costa close to the border of Murcia. The roads of the Costa Blanca are a cyclists paradise, it is the Cycling capital of the World. On any given day it is not unusual to see groups of 30 or more taking advantage of its smooth rolling tarmac and relatively traffic free roads.
The friendly people are a reflection of the warm conditions you will find here. The traffic laws here in Spain are much more protective of cyclists than in the UK with a minimum 1.5 passing distance (of riders two abreast) but are hardly required as
most of the drivers are kind, careful and courteous making this a very safe place to ride.
The routes here are normally 100k ish but can be tailored to individual needs we have an abundance of flat and mountainous roads all within easy reach. We have mountains of between 1000M - 1500M altitude easily reachable. More commonly we ride beautiful climbs between 400M - 500M in height. We are also blessed with superb
Coastal roads which have fabulous coffee stops to top off a ride or for a recovery day.
We can arrange for you to ride with local competitive groups or even ride the very competitive local unofficial race "The Pique".
Eating out in Spain is still relatively cheap most resturaunts offering a Menu Del Dia for under 12 , a coffee, a beer or a glass of wine is typically 1.20 .
Guided Cycling Tours are surprisingly cheap from 10 per person, minimum 35 , maximum 50 . If we have piqued your interest please get in contact it would be great to hear from you.
I have been addicted to Cycling since age 14, i dabbled in racing Track, Road, Cross and more lately long distance touring & bikepacking. I have been visiting the Costa Blanca for more than 20 years and now live here permenantly for 3 years. I have cycled most of the roads around the Orihuela Costa and Murcia and never get tired of them. I ride with friends in an international group of riders and have made friends with many nationalities, none more bonkers than the Belgians. 5 years ago rode solo from Portsmouth to Alicante on my touring bike which was hugely rewarding. Recently i rode solo from Marrakesh to Alicante which was a fantastic experience. I look forward to many more trips like this when covid settles down. I love to ride with the locals in Spanish Audax events but am happy to ride at any pace with any rider as i find that people are the key to enjoying the road.
